8.1 Mixed text types for different subject areas

Secondary school textbooks typically use different text types in the one text, often presenting facts, explanations and points of view in one passage. However there is often no indication of the shift in text types to guide the students who will need to read as well as write appropriate texts in different subject areas.

E.g.

English, creative arts

respond critically to texts and draw a critical comparison between e.g. films of novels, evaluating effectiveness of transition

Identify and describe trends from e.g. graphs and tables
