6.1 What is the difference between: You're? and Your?

"You're" is a contraction of "You are" .

"Your" is a possessive adjective.

See their correct usage below:

"You're not to go out this evening," said the mother to her young son. (This means "You are .....")

I can see that you're happy tonight.
(This means you are.)

BUT

Your jacket is hanging behind the door.
(This means that you own the jacket. Notice, it is always followed by a noun.)

Your assignment has been corrected and is in the tray.
(This means that you own the assignment.)
